2012 CS for Wife, Options list, please comment
Placing order for a '12 CS for the Mrs in about a week and need some input. I am not looking to spend too much optioning it out (our 1st Porsche, options list is very tempting / intimidating). She'll be driving it 90% of the time. She's not very technically inclined, no kids (yet?) and don't care too much for gizmos. If this Cayenne was for me, it's a no brainer how I'd build it.
Most of her driving will be in the city. We will take the CS out to Vegas (260 mls ea. way) about 4x a year. No off-roading. We'll be purchasing car and driving it 6-7+ years.
Sand White / Luxor Beige
Convenience Pkg
Entry and Drive
Reversing Cam w/ Park Assist
Land Change Assist
Walnut Interior Pkg incl shift ****
19" Turbo Wheel [C8k]
Summer Tires
Colored Crest Wheel hub cover
Light Comfort Pkg w/ mem pkg
8 Spd Tiptronic S Auto
MSRP $77,520 (before discount from dealer)
November Build Date
A few questions:
- Can we realistically expect CS delivery by end of 2011?
- Is Sand White getting discontinued?
- If the 8spd Tiptronic S is a $0 option, what is the default transmission?
- If I do not order the XM module, will she still get Traffic for Nav?
- Is the multi-function steering wheel standard? Website pic shows otherwise. It shows a standard wheel w/ shift buttons, but no multi-function (aux, radio) buttons.
- Option OM1 ($0), extended range fuel tank. Is this standard or must be ordered?
- Option 9JA ($0), Deletion of Smoker Pkg. Confusing, since smoker pkg is a $0 cost option. Do we have to tell dealer to delete the Smoker Pkg?
- Does Porsche usually offer Christmas Manufacturer Rebates? Since the CS is arriving around that time, I would like to negotiate that all future incentives by Porsche still qualify for us.
- Extended Warranty. Yay or Nay? Pricing for a "exclusionary" extended warranty owners are paying?
Thanks a lot guys. Sorry for all the questions and long 1st time post.

Nice build. I think sand white is getting phased out for white later this year, so it will depend on your build date which color you will get. You must have XM radio if you want traffic.
If you order now you should get it in late December or early January.

Does the subscription for the XM have to be active in order to receive traffic updates? For my current vehicle, I let the subscription run out, but I still get real-time traffic.
Yes, at least technically. There have been reports of people letting subscriptions lapse and never losing the service. YMMV. I think you can just pay for NavTraffic without paying for Sat radio though. Checkout the website at siriusxm.com for more details.
