PCM BOSE Audio Quality - Amazing!

I gotta say, I really think BOSE did an outstanding job on the new PCM system. Especially in surround mode. The stage presence and separation is just amazing! Also the sound volume is concert level. 585 watts is heart pounding. No idea why you would opt for the Burmunster...

One important note. The default - setting OPTIONS>LINEAR is set to off resulting in an overly bassy eq. For best listening, check this box. It provides a flat eq curve and lets the music shine through. Also you have to enable surround for ALL inputs (SAT, AUX, AUX BT, CD...etc.)

What's your experience?

Out of the box, I am not too happy about this is based on my experience with others cars. I do have an audiophile system at home and do understand what decent sound is. However, with a good CD, the system appears to be decent but not with MP3s or Satellite radio. The linear feature is cool though and does make things better.

I guess I have to spend more time with the CS and get to know it better

I use the iPOD USB digital input. All my iPod music is ripped at minimum 128K > prefer 256K or even higher for my reference music. Digital input makes the difference. SAT radio is mediocre as its is usually about 96K being streamed down from space. Also hit that surround button. Surround wakes up the speakers in the back door right by your head. It provides a great soundstage.

When you listen to the Burmester vs Bose you will know why people choose the Burmester over Bose. It really is a huge difference. The best stereo I have ever heard, no. Best I have ever heard in a Porsche, by far.

Agree that Burmester is better, much better. Listened at dealer. Actually did an A-B comparison. Just don't think its 6K better then the BOSE. Of course IMHO.

You are probably right that it is not 6K better but i don't know. I do know when you get a good dvd-a in there it is amazing. I was also clouded by the boat load of work i had put in on my 997s I had prior. I replaced the Nav unit and amps in that car and it was a good amount of work. The Bose system in that car was not nearly as good as the one thet now comes in a Cayene (and probably the new 991).
