HD Radio Option

Hello everyone,

First post here. All of the information I have read in the forums have been really helpful so thank you all.

About to receive 12 Cayenne which I ordered about two months ago. I was really shocked to hear that Porsche has just recently added an optional HD Radio feature. Unfortunately I wasn't able to add it when I configured my car as it was not yet available. I currently drive a car with HD Radio and I believe it does make a good difference.

Does anyone know if the HD Radio option can be added after receiving the car? I checked on the dealership but after a couple of weeks they have not been able to confirm this.

Thanks!

Doesn't the PCM already pick up digital text metadata from the radio? If this data is on the same band as the digital broadcast, then it seems that all that would be needed would be a software update.

From the Porsche website it would seem that HD Radio is an additional receiver, just like Satellite Radio. I would hope that it is just a software update but as I mentioned the dealer hasn't been able to confirm so perhaps it is something more complex.

xm radio is MUCH MUCH better than HD radio. HD radio only works within a given range and the sound quality is the same as satellite radio. don't worry about it.

I didn't pick up the satellite radio option, paid a Sirius subscription in my current car for almost two years and I ever barely used it - stuck to using HD Radio and music stored on the hard drive.

I will let you know if I end up hearing from the dealer.

Thanks all for replying.
