Considering a Cayenne

new member here - but a long time reader.

i'm considering purchasing a well optioned 2011 V6 or ordering a less optioned 2012. as you can imagine, haven't been able to drive either. my understanding is that these vehicles are superior to the X5 or ML.

we have pretty brutal summers here in oklahoma, and i'm interested in hearing how the a/c performs. currently drive a MB (good a/c) and my wife drives a volvo (not so good a/c). would be interested in hearing from anyone who lives in a hot climate on how the cayenne's a/c performs.

before i got hooked on the idea of a cayenne, was considering a 07-08 997, but can't think of getting rid of my 86 911. two 911s (no mater the vintage) isn't in the cards for me!

I live in the Norrtheast, and spent one summer in my 2011 958. After the sensor issue was resolved (felt was placed on the driver side vent). The air conditioner performed very well and kept the car cool at the set temperature. I had the standard moonroof and not the pano. I did not need to lower the temperature as I did in my Benz to cool the truck. Since, it is a large vehicle inside, took slightly longer to cool. Overall, much better than my 2005 model. I have the ventilated seats and I believe they are a must in hot weather climates.

Welcome. I've had my 2011 w black int for just over a year with one summer here in Vegas (it hits 110+ here)- the AC worked great, and after the sensor fix as mentioned above, I was pleasantly surprised by the improvement. Very happy with the AC.

While I haven't spent much time in either an X5 or ML, I can say I love my Cayenne and am very happy with it. I have to imagine its night and day with the ML. Good luck with your decision.

We have had a few 80-90 degrees day in Socal winter, and it cooled the cabin down well. This summer will be the real test.

I got my Cayenne in early September and broke it in with a 1900 mile road trip, that went from L.A. to Scottsdale then El Paso and back the same way. We stayed a few days in both Scottsdale and El Paso, there and back.

I have a Jet Black w/sunroof(no panoramic), and since it was new I had not tinted the windows. At the time it was in the high 90's and low 100's in both places and the car's AC worked great, no issues at all. Trust me if there were issues my kids and Wife would have let me know, lol.

Buy with confidence, it really is an awesome vehicle.
