Just saw your edit.
When the press says 2013, they are talking about the model year.. 2013 starts being build in June 2012, delivery July/August (depending where you're located).

So a 2014 will be the same story but for next year (2013).

Do a Google search and talk to your dealer.
When I confronted my dealer with this info I added, "if I find out that there's a facelift next year you're going to have a VERY upset customer and I'll never spend another penny here!"... he then reluctantly confirmed that a facefilt is coming for the 2014 model and suggested that they'd reserve the very first one for me... (nice safe).

I know it's long wait but I've got a Benz SUV right now and don't really use it in summer.
Sure you won't even think about the Cayenne till winter yourself with that brand new 991
Then again... there's alway a new model on the horizon .
Or the super safe (irresponsible) thing to do is buy one now, and trade it when the new one comes out, and lose a ton of $$...that's always a possibility (I have a sickness when it comes to Porsche)

Yeah 'Cajan' is too small--would be like buying Boxster (just kidding). Decisions, decisions. Gut says just get the V6, make sure it 'looks' like the 8 (Turbo II wheels, etc) and save $20K. After all, it's the DD, the 991 is the 'fun' car

Yup that's what i'm doing.
Outside of the $$ don't forget the difference in gas consumption
Honestly the V6 feels great when you just go around town, it's very smooth... slowish when you put the hammer down, but solid.
Like ya said for real performance we've got other toys .

Cheers!

Just remember 'slowish' is relative to other P-cars. Relative to SUVs - in ling ML, X5, etc., the V6 is fast.

That's kinda unusual for a German manufacturer to do a facelift only 4 years after introduction.

Get the turbo, remove all rear logos...and let them figure out which one you have by breathing in your exhaust

V8 NA = soccer mom car? Far from it. If anything, I see more women driving V6 than S model. So far, I've seen most women in V6, Turbo/Turbo S, and S in that order (obviously, never counted but just saying).

Another thing. Don't compare V6 to VW Touareg. No matter how similar they are, I was surprised by the V6 Cayenne over Touareg.

IMO, if you already have 991 and will be daily driving Cayenne, either wait for Macan (you said too small but I think it may be worth the wait) or get V6. I was very close to replace my S model with V6 until I heard the news about Macan. If Macan is not my thing, I am jumping on GTS for sure. Good luck!

I had the same decision to make last year. I ended up with the V6 with turbo II wheels. While it is no rocket ship this car is great to drive. More than adequate power. The longer I own it the more I like it. I have put 9K on this car and the only time it seems slightly underpowered is climbing steep grades. I don't think you can go wrong either way, just a matter of what you want. Don't be afraid of the base model it is a GREAT car and a pleasure to drive.

LCI facelift, not a new model / redesign. Pretty common for Germans to do a mid-year-ish LCI.

RE: soccer mom's. Actually, I chose the SUV for the Mrs. Because I drive it on trips, I chose the S for her. She wanted a RRS and then looked into the Evoque. She liked the X6 as well, but after much research, Porsche SUVs came up 1st for me, with others following a distant 2nd. In the beginning, I was looking at the V6 for her. But taking into account that there were no discounts on the V6 and there were offering at the time $3500 off the S, add in the automatic tranny (3k?) and some other must haves that came std on the S, the price diff was a lot tighter than the base MSRP suggested. She chose color and interior, and I chose options and engine. Also got the 21" SportEd wheels (she was happy w/ 19's, but I wasn't) and now we are happy campers.

V10M is a team player!
That sounds way better than settling for an Acura and then trying to decide whether to upgrade the Room at the resort in Fiji.

Thanks for the input guys. Think the consensus says V6 with Turbo II's. If either of you have pics, I'd live to see what the 6 looks like with the Turbo II's.

Uh, there are hundreds of pics out there with Turbo II rims... v6 looks no different than the S except for the emblem
