PTT vs CTT
PTT vs CTT
Hey guys,
Big dilemma here and I've posted about this but never got a reply.
What would you choose between PTT and CTT?
Has anyone gone from PTT to CTT or the other way around to share the experience?
How often do you *really* need the SUV features?

Pros for CTT:
Burmester sounds better in here per a Burmester salesman who said it was ported and styled for better sound.
Raised seating position for visibility and less blind spots.
Amazing feel to be seated so high in an suv and have it handle like a sports car (must get PDCC). Great offroad ability, tested them at the porsche driving school was amazing (obviously requires offroad tires).
Cons for CTT:
Very slow shifting auto tranny compared to the PDK (very annoying). Cant get PDK since need torque converter for towing capacity and offroad ability. Which we had an option for those of us whole will not tow or offroad.
Pros for PTT:
So much faster because of PDK and sport chrono pkg. Much smoother luxuries ride, even in sport plus suspension setting it is not jarring or squeaky. Gets a lot of looks. Feels put together more expensively and with more engineering then the CTT. Also feels like it costs 30k more.
Cons for PTT:
Cant offroad, cant seat 5, cant see out the back. Costs 30k more.
Feel like I forgot to mention some other things but these are the most objective comparisons that come to mind. I tried to avoid subjective comments like there looks.

Zzzspeed - can you see why it's such a difficult decision to make? Have you owned both? If so what would you choose?
I will have a 991S Cab as the fun car as well but the PTT with PDCC can be just as fun

Another question - CTT does not have launch control but how does it feel getting off a start line with the acceleration pedal floored?
I was blown away by PTT launch control

Alex,
I have not owned both, just the CTT. But have had a lot of experience in a PTT. Which would I get is a very hard choice. The CTT fits me better at this time since I have 2 young boys and the PTT is just to fancy for two car seats in the back. If the kids were 10 years older, then I would probably have the PTT.
During a hard take off, the CTT has a noticable turbo lag. Even when you try to brake boost it, it does not even compare with the launch control of a PTT. And then the sluggish shifting from 1st to 2nd in the CTT is just horrible under full boost. Talk about your head lunging forward as the shift is slowly happening. If I did not know how fast PDK was I would not be complaining so much about it.
Both cars can be running 600hp/tq with just some bypass pipes and an ecu tune, highly recommend it.

Just to add my .02....Have only heard the Burmester in the Panamera and it was phenomenal. It is mind blowing to think the Cayenne could sound better. I can't imagine anyone who bought the upgrade in the PTT would be disappointed.
The visibility in the Panamera is a real issue. The Cayenne is not famous for rear vision, but it shines in comparison.

Taking off the middle head-rest really helps.
I have a CTT and have driven a PTT. I think it is hard not to make direct comparisons. I really liked the fact that the PTT has less weight and a better quality interior. However, at the end of the day, the CTT is MUCH more versatile. It has more cargo room, can go through tough NE winters, mild offroad (center median on interstate
), and tow when needed. I dont think it turns as many heads, however, I get enough attention as it is. Every time I try to justify a PTT, I revert back to a 911 instead; its just a better version of the PTT.
I think each person is a little different, situation-wise.

Everyone.
Thank you for being kind and offering some help. it helps a lot to get knowledge from people who've experienced Porsche for a while. btw - this is my first! (very excited).
The only question, it seems... is do I really need an SUV or not?
When will I *really* need an SUV?....
I noticed that Panamera can have the roof transport system - so space shouldn't be such a major issue. it's more the:
- seating position (higher, better visibility)
- clearance and ability to do light offroading (i love roadtrips and national parks)
how the *eck would you make a decision about this?

Not sayin the PTT isn't nice, it's great, but the CTT can do more. My back seat passengers don't feel deprived either.
Good points Bluehinder.
I'm also wondering... this car is stock.
and it's missing the following:
- ventilated seats
- rear window wiper
these small things + big price tag could get annoying after a while, whereas if I build my own CTT, i could have it delivered in june /july exactly how i want it, including pano roof (not available on the PTTS that's ready to drive away).
Btw - off a hard pressed start, how fast is CTT? in other words, do you / or your passengers feel the "turbo" ?

Its hard not to notice a vehicle that large with over 500 HP / TQ stock. It will pin you to the seat with its AWD launch. If you are hard to impress like myself, get a secondary cat bypass and a tune- nothing but grins all around.
+1... if I had to choose only 1 vehicle for the next 10 years, the CTT would be it hands down. With PDCC, air suspension, and a few mods, it does everything. And does it exceptionally well.
