buying a new cayenne S need some help from so cal owners
Can't compare the deal on other cars like Audi to buying a Cayenne. I was able to get $9000 off a 2012 Mercedes just by calling Walters. It's all about supply and demand. It's obvious when they are hard to come by, discounts are harder to get. Porsche dealers usually have only a handful of Cayennes, so if you find the right car, any discount you get are just icing on the cake.

I guess i am used to getting 10000 off BMWs so my Cayenne is the first car that I ever got so little off. However, there's a saying in Socal that "If you threw a stone in any direction, you can rest assure that it will hit a BMW or Mercedes."
I lived in Irvine for three decades, and I had seen more BMWs and Mercedes on the streets than any other cars in city. However, I do miss those conquest rebates, loyalty incentives, Team USA rebates, and other walk-in coupons offered by the Mercedes and BMW dealers.
I got mine from Gaudin Las Vegas. The sales person was Mike, awesome guy. However I didn't get any discount, I even had to wait nearly 3 months for custom Turbo. The manager told me that Turbos are very high demand cars and most dealerships don't give discounts on them. I assume if you are wiling to buy a car that is not a custom order then you can probably get a good 2% off.
I got a 2011 used CS at McKenna 2 weeks ago. 11K miles, never titled, PCNA demo car with CPO -- Premium, Bose -- for 67.5K ; Originally offered at 77K.
You might want to look for lightly used CPO, let someone else take the depreciation hit.
Just a thought.

I do not live in Southern California, but perhaps a universal note on negotiating may help: I identified the CTT that corresponded with all my "must have" options, and closely corresponded to my ideal list of additional options, contacted the dealer, walked in with a duffle bag with $135k cash, and picked the proximity keys up at just above invoice (of course, the dealer has hidden incentives). I have done this for each vehicle I have purchased for the past 15 years, primarily AMG and Mercedes, it worked and continues to work every time. The CTT and CGTS, CH, and CS are phenomenal vehicles. I hope Porsche and their subordinate dealers aren't listening: they are worth every penny!

I'm assuming you can do this because you can "flash the cash" in front of them.

There are no rules set in stone that you can not get any discount on a particular car, custom ordered or not. If the salesperson tells me this, I already know I will not be buying from them. It basically means they aren't willing to work with you on the price. It all comes down to how desperate they want the business, and what your relationship is with them. If you've done business with them before, it's not hard to get discount on even the most demanding car.
Bought several cars from him... Best salesperson in my opinion!
