Yesterday I purchased my 2013 Cayenne Turbo!!!!
Congrats on your purchase. Sounds wonderful.
^^^I'd like to know your impressions too.
I have a 13' Cayenne GTS and a 991, handling wise the GTS is an SUV out of this world, logically not as sharp as the 991 but IMO it gets pretty close, the exhaust sound is intoxicating and under normal driving conditions it "feels" faster than the 991 due to the higher torque figures down low, even though its not.
Its so good that sometimes I find myself second guessing that I should have gone with with the Turbo instead.
Congrats on your new Turbo and drive it safe.

Hey Ken. I've met you before in Irvine when you took a look at my Atlas Grey C2S vert in Quail Hill years ago. I'm surprised to see you the Pacific NW. I hope all is well with you and your family.
I guess this is my story to what landed me to each car.
I had a 2006 C2S convertible which I loved. I drove it 15,000 miles the first year, then 5,000 miles then the year I sold it I probably only drove it 3,000 miles . During the time when I owned the C2S, I needed a daily driver where I felt safe because my commute takes me 110 miles daily and my business is in the heavy commercial industry so I am driving next to semi's everyday. The C2S had me scared so I picked up the full-size Range Rover Supercharged.
As you come to suspect, the Range Rover got boring pretty quickly and Porsche had invited me to a DE for the Panamera at the California Speedway. Luckily for me the Cayenne GTS happened to be there too. A couple short course laps in the GTS, I had walked down to the dealership that weekend, traded in the RR and picked up a new GTS.
The GTS is a great vehicle. I don't think its a long distance commute vehicle. The truck is just not comfortable even though it has those great seats, and that wonderful exhaust note. Driving 110 miles round trip, you get sensitive to even the smallest inputs, notice the most minute changes and really get a thorough understanding of the characteristics of each car. The GTS handles like no other SUV, it really is that much better however it is still no 997. The 997 is truly a drivers car and other then the size, it was the more comfortable commuter. The 997's PASM suspension just handled the broke roads better then my GTS. I felt like all my teeth were going to rattle out whenever I went over a rough patch of broken highway or rail road tracks. There was no dampening what so ever just total structural stiffness.
When I went to purchase my TURBO, I did test drive the GTS for comparison and the 991 for kicks. the new GTS is heads and tails better then the previous variation of the GTS in every way. Better interior, better exhaust note, better amenities, better driving dynamics etc etc...It took me a long time to get over the fact that not every car has to be in your face all the time for it to be fun. The Turbo is really sedated during normal conditions, absorbs the rough road like a champ and then push that sport button...oh man, the feeling of that torque is unreal. The combination of the PDCC and the PTV for me makes this thing just as fun in the corners without beating me up all day like my old GTS. It is really a calm gentle giant then wake this beast up, it turns into an absolute road eater.
Is it as fun as my old GTS on spirited drives? No. Not even close. But for me, my SUV needs to take me to my destination in comfort and I shouldn't be getting out of my car thinking I was just in a roller coaster ride. That is what the 991 is for. That sportscar that you want to excite your senses all the time, that connection with the road and the agility of a gymnast. The Cayenne (in whatever variation ) will never be that but the GTS comes close. The turbo is perfect for me, my lifestyle and my needs. Not everyone will feel very warmly about my opinions here.
That being said, Ken I miss my 997 dearly. However, I would never be able to drive it because it isn't the most practical of cars to take everywhere. I recently had an experience with a 993 Turbo, my god that car has me thinking crazy again...the rawness...that power...those unmistakable curves...simply unreal.

Got my Turbo back on March, fully loaded. Pdcc and PTV are amazing systems. Love the panorama, and the insulated windows, makes the car amazingly quite. I have 12000 miles on, love road trips. Congratulations on that new vehicle you got. You'll enjoy every mile on. Make sure you get a good radar detector on.
