I purchased a preowned 2011 Cayenne from the US recently that had been Porsche Certified. I have since shipped it to Japan. I have recently learned however that the Porsche dealer who sold me the car never registered it for the certification despite having advertised it when selling the car. Their excuse was that I was given a further discount because I was not registering the vehicle in the US. I was in fact never told that this discount meant the car would not have the certification registered. I think they have to pay a premium to Porsche NA and so they kept the money that would have been paid to PNA for this. They are also claiming PNA will not certify a car that isn't registered in the US which I find hard to believe as my local dealer in Japan are able to have this globally covered,

I think that I am within my rights to have this certification despite the car not being registered in the US given that the vehicle was advertised with this and I was never informed nor agreed to let it go for a small discount. I am not a lawyer and wonder if some who may be one or know something about this could advise me on what I should do?

Can't really offer any insight to this, but I do think you'll have a hard time getting what you want due to the fact that you've now taken the car out of the country.

 

According to the information on Porsche's website regarding the CPO warranty

This warranty does not cover:
Any car registered or normally driven outside of the United States and Canada.

 

as stated above your car no longer has CPO, end of story.
Price is a different matter. I think you are entitled to some monies.

 

Actually Porsche NA will not cover the vehicle but once it is registered in the system - which I believe is globally coded - Porsche Japan will honour it.

My dealer is saying the above reason because it cost them quite a bit of money to have the car CPO even though they originally factored in the amount to sell it locally. Im pretty pissed but given he is across the world, he is lucky. If **** like that were to happen to me back in my city, the sales manager would have a lot more issues than money.
