Careful @ Porsche Southampton (Storms)
Careful @ Porsche Southampton (Storms)
On my way back to Manhattan last night, drove by Porsche of Southampton (aka Storms or Six Sigma). They had 3 cars parked on the lawn out front right by the street. I noticed that their sprinklers were going and that the cars were soaking wet. Thanks to traffic, I was crawling so i noticed that the cars were maybe 6 inches or a foot away at most from the sprinkler heads which were just peppering the cars repeatedly. I don't know how long or how often they run their sprinklers but i would probably guess at least 20 minutes twice a week? Maybe more?
One of the cars looked to be a new Cayenne GTS or Turbo (i think it was a GTS), but it caught my eye because I considered buying a Cayenne GTS from these guys, but ended up with a Panamera GTS from another dealer. I am glad I did.
For anyone who has been to or driven by this dealer, they always have cars parked out on the lawn. So this isn't an isolated incident.
I know it's just water, but I don't think anyone would want their car to be hit by a sprinkler for an extended period of time from close-range repeatedly. I know I wouldn't.

You're really that afraid of a car getting wet? It's not like we are talking about a power washer or anything.
I don't know anything about this particular dealer, but I know there are plenty of reasons to dislike/distrust dealers. This, however, doesn't really pass the "so what" test...

I worry more about if the car I buy exposed to full sun light for a extended period of time. Because most dealers keep their inventory outside, uncovered. I don't worry about water, besides Porsche sells quick, even if they don't sell quick, dealers move card around very often to change the appearance.
I live out in Sag Harbor and picked up my Cayenne and S4 from that dealer, those cars get rotated out every couple days from the front lawn so I don't think a day or two of sprinklers are doing too much damage. The whole crew at SH, sales, parts and service are top notch.
