I have a Q7 tdi clean diesel and have been very happy with it. Buying a new 2014 Cayenne tomorrow. Can't wait. Same engine just a little different tuning. Maintenance should be the same. Great mileage too..

We were so glad when one of those PoS RFTs blew out it's side wall on the BMW and we replaced all 4 with normal Pilot Sports. Drastically improved the ride.

The Hybrid doesn't have a spare and comes with the goo. All other models come with the "build it yourself" spare and a compressor (it works in a pinch, but it's not the greatest in the world.

Quick question for the DIY'ers, are we able to easily reset the oil service notification? I'd assume so, but I haven't tried.
Did my first DIY oil change last week on the 2013 CD prior to a trip to LA. Used Mobil 1 5w-30 ESP ($11/qt ... ouch!), new filter and o ring, and crush washer on the oil plug. Super easy as others have said. Topped off AdBlue, again super easy with the "Porsche" bottle from dealer ... it has a special connector and valve to help reduce spills. Put in 7 3/4 qts oil 1 l AdBlue. Used my Durametric to rest only the oil service indicator. Biggest problem was the over-torqued oil pan plug from the factory. Had to use an extension bit to get the breaker bar below the cross member.

I was probably all in for parts and supplies around $120 (I bought a couple extra qts oil just in case). BTW my oil change indicator "change oil now" came on at 6200 miles but after reset it indicates next oil service is due in 5000 miles. I'll keep a watch and see if it adjusts as I drive it. Since I do a lot of towing, I'll probably keep on a 5000 mile schedule -- when I tow my enclosed trailer and 997 I will see oil temps > 250 degF on some grades or if I push the speed for an extended period. Oil temp drops back down as the load reduces.

Look for VW 507.00 spec next time. It's approved (even in your manual) and far cheaper. If I remember correctly I think I paid a bit over $8/liter from my closet VW dealer.

If you want your warranty to remain intact you'll do the 5k changes. After release they reduced the OCI from 10k to 5k. It's annoying that they didn't send any kind of notice to owners (e.g. an updated page to stick in the manual), but the first time you take it to a dealer they apply the campaign that updates your computer for the new OCI.

We test drove a 2014 Q5 with a new 3.0 TDI (240hp/428tq if anyone's interested) and the sales guy said 10k OCI on their diesels. The lighter Q5 with more tq is quite impressive...

How do you "prove" you followed the 5k OCI if you DIY? Just keep all the receipts?

I keep the receipts, a label from the oil bottle, and took pictures of the ODO before and after resetting the OCI.

Combined with the other records I keep I have little worry about having to do more than show my records should it ever come up.

FWIW, the US-spec CD doesn't have the same CATA engine as found in earlier VWs and Audis. We get the CNRB engine. Oh, and I use Pennzoil Ultra L in 5W30. It's also C30 spec, which I can get for ~$7.50 when purchased by the case

I've got a set of aftermarket wheels, so when I tow the racecar to a faraway track, I put one of the originals on the trailer just in case of a flat. Would hate to have to tow with that inflateable thing.

Got the oil changed at the vw dealership today.
73.92 -oil
28.64 - filter
22.38 - adblue
20.00 - labor

154 with tax! They even washed it and put tire shine on.

Only thing they didn't do was reset oil Change indicator. I need to figure out that one still.

I believe that a PIWIS and Durametric are your only options. I don't know you can get the first (and it would be expensive if you can). The Dura will do a bit more than just reset the SIs, but not nearly as much as older Cayennes so it may not be worth the cost either.

You should be able to swing by your P-Car dealer and get them to reset it, but they'll likely charge you for it.

You bought the filter from the VW dealer? I thought it was a slightly different filter than the Audi and TReg used (though I did my last change before the new 2014 TReg was out yet).

They had to order it, as it took a day to get it. Its the same part number as in your DIY thread.

As for the oil change indicator light, we can live with it coming on every time we start up, its no big deal. Haven't had a reminder on other cars I've owned, and the bigger reason than cost for going to the VW dealer is convenience. The Porsche dealer is an hour away and in a part of town we never go to.

What the dealer told us:
The reason for the change in oil service intervals was due to the Bio component. Most diesel sold CONUS has at least 5% bio-diesel in it. Issue is that there is no standard to which the bio component is made. PCNA would prefer we use 100% D-2

Ya gotta take what salesmen tell you with a grain of salt. First of all, 85% of the world bio-diesel production occurs in Europe. What he says may apply in Europe, but he's clearly not aware of our own Federal Trade Commission regulations. He's apparently not above putting words in the mouth of PCNA as well.

My 21013 CD owner manuals clearly endorse the use of blended bio-diesel, as long as it's not blended above the B5 standard. And there are standards. The FTC mandates pump labels for anything above B5. "The label or labels must be placed conspicuously on the dispenser face in full view of consumers and as near to the price per unit as is reasonably practical". Non-compliance can result in fines up to $10,000. Voluntary placement of B2 and B5 labels is encouraged.

Interesting; I also read the other recent diesel thread where the seasonal formula were mentioned. Out of curiosity, is there a difference in the quality of diesel? More specifically, is there any benefit to paying a little more per gallon to get it from someone like Chevron vs buying it from an off-name gas station?
