Anyone read any projections? I foresee younger less affluent buyers and some soccer moms as the biggest takers. The soccer moms taking a much larger share of the would-be cayenne buyers pie relative to younger buyers....

I'm just hoping the residuals ease up a bit so I can pick up a second gen. S for under $50k! They're residuals have been unreasonably strong (not that the leasing reflects that). I think the macan will soften things up a bit. Sort of a market correction if you will.

If the macan does steal away sales from the cayenne, then all the better. The cayenne will be even more exclusive.

 

As good as the Macan will undoubtedly be there will be always those that will throw off at it as being the poor mans Cayenne. I found that same stigma existed with our previous X3. A great car but drew certain comments and criticisms as being of lesser standing/status. The Macan being a Porsche may not suffer quite as badly in the same light as say an X3 but that same stigma will still exist imo. Same with any car brand there will always be a model that is seen to be better and everything that falls under it is subject to the hammer from certain types. I think the Macan will be sensational just looking at the latest photos and will outperform most of the cayennes particularly in the handling dept being smaller and lighter.....but the stigma will remain. And that is what will keep Cayenne sales strong well after the Macan is released and the fuss of the new car has died down. And I would agree with OP the car will be very popular with the affluent mums.

 

Don't think the Cayenne will suffer at all. It's in the mid-sized SUV class, the Macan is in the compact class. Typically folks move from smaller into larger, less often the other way around
