There is a good reason why he wants to trade + cash for your Cayenne when he got such a loaded X5M. Think about it... vise versa... would you trade your GTS + cash for his car?!?

And yeah, my ex-X5M also have the rear seat heater which I was never in the back to use it and the massage feels kinda weird, kinda like something alive moving down your butt. Not a plus for me.

The gas is a good point, the X5M drinks a lot more even without pushing it much.

You certainly might be right; however I would trade a Cayenne GTS/Turbo for a X5M if the deal was right. I would certainly do the deal above.

I currently have a 2013 CTT with PDCC and all the goodies and I had a X5M for 2 years and 25K miles just prior. There was something about the M that I really loved. It was louder, rougher, didn't take bumps as well, interior was no match for the TT, etc. but I really enjoyed the time with that car. Don't get me wrong, the CTT is great DD car but when I consider the price delta, I would take the M all day. This is just my experience and certainly understand why others would take the P.

Also, I experienced less service visits in 2 years than in 2 months with my Cayenne. It took 3 attempts to fix a rattle in the passenger rear door, pano roof was creaking, alignment went out of whack quickly (that my be my fault ) and something else small.

Had an X5M right before my current Turbo.
It cost 60K more which seems ridiculous but after 2 years of ownership (Had the BMW for 3 years) I would say that it is well worth it.
To echo other posters: the looks, interior, ride and handling are on a different planet. It is just as engaging if not more so and way more comfortable.
New or used there is not enough price differential to push me into a BMW SUV.

Well that is not quite true. The new X5 released this year is a refresh model (F15) and the latest X5 M is from a previous model (E70). From what I have seen in the past, the M model usually lags a year from the introduction of a new model. I anticipate seeing a new X5 M (F15) next year.

Here are some rumored specs for the F15 X5M:

Interesting....seems strange to me.
But you're likely correct.

Change of model. Means nothing as it will be built. However, I'm not a big fan of the new body. Only saw one on the road which is weird. I expected to see the new X everywhere. I read there are serious production delays, parts, etc.

Sure you are just not recognizing them? BMWs are worse that Hondas in my area and I've been finding that I've been mistaking the new X5 for the old one at first glance. Unless an old and new one are sitting right next to each other I have to get a good look at the grill to be sure which I'm looking at. The new are still pretty rare in comparison (at least one a day that I'm sure of), but its really only the last 3 months or so that I've started seeing more of the new 3s and 5s than their last models too.

To me, the new X5 looks very similar to the X3 to the extent I could easily not recognize it. I also have to agree that I'm not a fan of the new look. As to production delays, I also heard that too. Pushed back something like 3 months.

Positive. I am up to speed on all the new models and can tell right away. Just a matter of time before they are like flies. The lease deals that BMW offers make the X5 an attractive SAV.

Porsche on the other hand..... ouch!

Definitely some sticker shock if you are used to BMW lease terms if you go to get a Porsche lease

I agree with what has been said by everyone so far. Ive owned an '13 X5 briefly and the inerior kills me. Its just old, dull and tired. Cayenne is on a completely other level. Will you see performance gains from 11 X5M to 13GTS ..... absolutely, especially after you flash the X5M

I have a bmw fanboy friend who has a E92 and was looking at SUVs. We found him a new X5M in MD/VA area that was used by the dealership owner (never tagged) for 20k off MSRP (105-20). My friend ended up getting a new 14 RR Sport, being the BMW fanboy that he is.

I actually just traded in my X5M, went to an M5 but now I realize that was dumb. I'm looking for a new GTS.

How does a GTS without PDCC compare to the X5M? No dealer stocks a car that has PDCC it has to be special ordered. Based on a short test drive I thought it was harsher/stiffer than the X5M in comfort mode, but not as tight as the X5M in M mode.

I was about to not worry about it, I have a GT3 coming so it's not like the GTS is my track car...but do I need the PDCC ? Does it make the ride better even in standard/comfort mode?

Thanks

Jeff

Update guys: I ended up keeping my GTS. I just couldn't persuade myself to give up the phenomenal Cayenne interior and exterior. I'll happily keep my GTS until I move to a TT or TTS.

Can't argue with this...... Cayenne interior is light years ahead. The GTS looks bad-*** as well but I also like the mean look of the M.
