Auxiliary battery and power management system install

Has anyone done this on a Cayenne?
Looking for location to mount 2nd battery and power management set up to power a WARN winch and ARB type refrigerator.
Currently set up with both front and rear winch mounts. When mounted in rear will use the tow hitch receiver. We have another tow hitch receiver mounted in front. Plan to use one winch but will need power at both front & rear.
Will want Aux battery to charge from the engine that also can be isolated to not drain main battery for starting.
We have a 2013 Cayenne Diesel. Thanks for any help / advice.

I would have said in the spare tire well, but the AdBlue tank kills that. There is not really enough space in the engine bay to build a mount for a second battery, so I think your only option will be to build a custom enclosure (make sure to vent it) that mounts in the cargo area.

I'd look at replacing the factory panel on the left side (the one with the cavity and webbing) with something custom to make use of the space there. I expect that the battery would still stick out quite a bit, but an extra 4-6" could be useful. You'll need to make sure that you still have a way to get into the spare tire well though.

You'll also have to deal with running a line from the front (either engine bay or the primary battery) to the back and given the length you are talking about 0 gauge or better which is not the easiest stuff to deal with (isn't going to bend around tight corners). Since you are talking about winches, I assume that means off road duty. That then means you want to run the cable inside so you don't risk anything hitting the bottom and cutting it's insulation and then it becomes a question of finding places under the trim and carpet that will accommodate such a thick wire.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Have you though of getting an Arkpak ?(http://www.arkportablepower.com/pages/about-the-arkpak)

You can mount it in the cargo area or in the rear passenger foot well. I use my ArkPak to power my fridge when the car is not running.

December 2016 Pano covered some of what we have been up to in the 'Meet Otis' article - for the latest on our off-road, rally, Overlanding diesel see :
http://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-c...meet-otis.html
Update on our original post. Decided to go with a p!g tail with Anderson connectors off the main battery just for the winch. See above link for how we mounted the winch inside. We have a Group 31 marine battery, National Luna box with 90 watt solar array to recharge. Using an inverter to keep electronics charged. We were advised by several folks not to tap into the main battery to run aux systems as it would cause issues with the cars computer. The ARB fridge is pinned on one side of the winch, the National Luna box on the other.
