2013 958 GTS pre 11/2012 PCM

Anyone knows if the later/current PCM is a software update or hardware update or both?
Not sure if my 2013 GTS will have the updated version or not.

At a minimum it's hardware. I don't know if any coding is involved (but I don't think there should be as you order it to match your options). It's far from cheap though.
