CTTS pothole saga

So I left for Fla yesterday at 5am . Hit a bad pothole in the dark on hwy 20 minutes out. In Delaware in daylight see half dollar blister passenger front and my digital hand gauge shows 5 psi down. Porsche tpis a joke always 5-7 psi low, continued on wtf, stopping every 2 hours to chi tire and add air. Lots do quarters.. Where is free air??? Called Suncoast from car and made appt to stop this am. 18 hours took 22and drove straight thru. Wanted any overnite issues to happen in city with p dealer . SM at Suncoast super guy races a 86 928 4 cam at Sebring. Treated like gold even tho bought car up north. Got a VW loaner .No winter tires left in USA with the crazy winter. Will prob go with 2 summers for the front. What an ordeal. A summer tire would have blown, another reason to change shoes due to sidewall strength. May leave CTTS here and fly home. No word on damage to wheel but my tire wheel insurance will come in handyNo winter tires left in USA with the crazy winter. Will prob go with 2 summers for the front. What an ordeal. Wow!

I am glad you were able to make it to Suncoast safely! This is definitely a testament to changing to appropriate tires for the winter months.

Man that sucks. Glad it made it all the way.

I wouldn't mix summers and winters. AWD systems don't like mismatched tires (types or tread depth).

Thank u
Right.. Summer tires very dangerous when temp dips below 40 or so due to tread and compound

Rak,

What is your winter setup? You running on 20"s or 21"s with the PCCB? I won't be needing a winter set until next winter, but will be on the lookout for something through the year.

21inch . My only need for them is the drive up and back from Florida., in case of surprise snow. If snow predicted, I just go another day. I use my GWagon for a winter DD UP North. If I just had the CTTS for winter I'd probably get a winter tire pkg with 18 or 19 to get more tread on the snow

On second thought I'm not sure if they offer an 18 or 19 wheel with PCCBS

The smallest wheel that will fit over the PCCB's is 20". I am debating on whether to find some 20" take offs and add snow tires or wait replace the summers on the current 21" and get some new wheels.

Hey RAK,
What a mess ! Let me tell you that when you get back up here the potholes are relentless like I have never seen before. The highways too! Be careful.
I have been using my Durango a lot to avoid ruining my baby.
Safe trip,

Rob

Agree. The roads are terrible. But didn't expect a killer pothole on middle lane of Henry Hudson Pwy. Just goes to show. Probably popped overnite..I have kept the Cayenne in the garage just driving the GWAGON , but at 8.9 mpg never considered driving it to fla. Wanted to flex some P
Be safe and stay warm

Home at last. When Suncoast pulled the tire, the 21 inch sport edition was severely bent on the inside rim., which was the reason I was losing air.
With the NE weather took some effort to find a tire as tire rack sold out till next fall,
Luckily Suncoast had a new wheel in stock.
Thank you Mike G Service Mgr at Suncoast. A great operation. If you guys ever need a part give them a call. Their internet parts business is world wide
