Issue with instrument crusted display switching view without my input

Hello,

This is an issue that happens periodically and the dealer cannot replicate.

I have a 2014 CD. As you guys know, the instrument dial to the right of the speedometer have different information screens depending on what you want to read. I usually have it on the screen that shows time travelled, mpg, average speed.

However, from time to time, the screen changes to a different view. Generally to the tire pressure monitor or to the music selection screen. I have the optional steering wheel with the dial selection. In the beginning, I thought I may have mistakenly touched it or that I put the selection in between indents. But no, I made sure I wasn't touching the wheel.

Anyway, the dealer cannot replicate the issue and ask me to monitor it. I friend of mine who likes electronics thinks that there may be a short somewhere and is reacting to changes in electricity. I noticed it yesterday right after my headlights came on (it has the automatic option).

Any advice would be appreciated.

My 2013 does it too, but rarely. I programmed the MFD default display into the open button on the left half of the steering wheel. When the MFD arbitrarily jumps like that, I simply press that button to return to my default preference

The glitch that ticks me off is the seat memory forgetting the stored position when I start the engine. I was told they "could not replicate" that either. Clearly they didn't try too hard

I have seen that once or twice, but always figured I had the dial half turned and it finished on it's own. Definitely doesn't happen enough for me to care about.

I don't know about an actual electrical short though. My guess would just be a bad component in the dial sans additional evidence (e.g. you can replicate it every time the headlights come on, etc..).

Greg, are you talking about the comfort entry system? If so, I think it's a design flaw rather than a bug as every Cayenne I've been in with it is flaky. I just disabled it on mine due to it being a POS.

Just because more than one person has the same issue, that doesn't mean Porsche does not need to deal with it. This is like a doctor telling a sick patient, 'look, everyone in the waiting room also has the same sickness, so nothing I need to do!'
