'14 CD PCM Nav/Map Traffic
'14 CD PCM Nav/Map Traffic
I have the trial XM service with traffic service. I noticed that the map is not showing all the traffic information on the map. In other words, the map only shows certain highways with traffic information. i.e the green/red highlights. Has anyone noticed this as well. I remember on my Q7, all interstate and even state route roads show traffic info (red/green) highlights. With the PCM the state roads do not show the traffic info on the map.
I wonder if this has something to do with the Sirius/XM being a trial vs a paid subscription.
Any insight anyone can provide is appreciated. I hope it's not a PCM nav limitation. Otherwise it just makes the traffic subscription pretty useless moving forward.
Thanks.

I am on Long Island and have the XM traffic for a year now. It does not show certain roads that I can see with on line traffic program like BeatTheTraffic.Com I don't know why it doesn't show them.
There are some highways like Wantagh Parkway that have cameras on poles yet it doesn't show up on the XM. I hope they update that at some point. Some smart phone apps seem to be better at the process but I don't know which ones.

I live in northern NJ Bergen county and I see traffic info for I95 and GSP even palisades. But when I travel south toward I-78 no traffic info shows. No red/green lines. Very strange. Other maps with traffic shows traffic info.
/XM traffic in conjunction with your GPS/NAV systems only shows traffic conditions and situations that have been reported to them by the responsible authorities. If the county sheriff for example doesn't report a jackknifed truck - or the state/county highway company report a construction project - what XM doesn't know, they can't pass on to you. The other thing is - it seems - that more comprehensive traffic data is provided when your NAV system is actually enabled for a specified destination.

Here is the difference that I see between my wife's A4 and my previous Q7 and the Cayenne. The Audi's use Sirius receivers and the Porsche's use XM receivers. The Sirius receives use SiriusXM Traffic whereas the Porsche's PCM since it's XM use NavTraffic service. Both are from the same company, different service and provides different results. The SiriusXM traffic in the Audi's provides more map traffic information than the NavTraffic.
I see a huge difference in the traffic info it provides. For example, here in my area, the XM NavTraffic does not provide info for the Garden State Parkway, RT 4, I-78, NYS Thruway etc.. These are major highways. Whereas the SiriusXM Traffic service provides traffic info for these same highways.
I called SiriusXm and of course, they say it's the same and no one can give an explanation except to resend signal to the unit.
