Look great!
Maybe a dumb question: IIRC the offset should be at or near 50 on late model Cayenne/Touaregs 20x10 wheels.
What impact does 40 have? Need spacers?
Thanks

No spacers needed. The +40 are meant to clear any caliper issues the wheels may have. BBS designed these wheels to clear calipers for Turbo and Non Turbo models.
Thank you!

Wheel offset is one of the most misunderstood and unknown things about car building. There's a lot more to it than just a number.
A misconception is that a higher offset number means more brake clearance. Brake clearance is determined by face and spoke design. You can have a +100 ET rim with a super-concave face that has no room for large calipers. Just the same, you can have a -100 ET rim with such a curved convex face, that it allows for large aftermarket calipers.
Anyways, your response is less than comforting that you understand the "offset" requirements for the Cayenne 20x10 wheel.
From what i understand, the Cayenne/Touareg should have an offset of 50 (ET50). Additionally, from what i understand, an average deviation of only 5mm is typically allowed or advised. (Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)
So, if the Cayenne 20x10 wheel calls for an offset of 50mm and yours is 40mm, it does not fit within the generally accepted deviation and therefore, not optimal.
Offset has a significant effect on many elements of a vehicle's suspension, including suspension geometry, clearance between the tire and suspension elements, the scrub radius of the steering system, and visually, the width of the wheel faces relative to the cars bodywork.
As a result, offset is important to get right.
I'm not trying to argue, just get the facts so that me or others can choose the right wheel size for aftermarket wheels.
My question was less related to brake clearances and more about overall fitment.

After carefully reading your concern, we had a concern of our own with these wheels so we contacted BBS directly to get an answer.
BBS told us that BBS Germany wanted these wheels to sit more aggressively so that's the reason why they offered a +40 offset. It was also stated that some of the cars "may" need fender modifications when running the these wheels.
Not all BBS wheels have aggressive fitment. Some of the 22" BBS wheels are +50 offset.
Please let us know if you have any more questions we can assist you with.
Thank you for your time.
