So What's The Real Performance & MPG - 2011 Cayenne Diesel Please?
Hi all
So Im a few weeks into the 958 ownership with my 2011 3.0 Diesel and really love the overall package but have 2 questions at this point.
1. What are the real world performance figures for this model? Published figures say 0-60mph is 7.4 seconds but the car is way quicker than that when Sport is pressed, anyone have any idea of the true figure?
2. What's the true MPG for the car? I drive the same journey I drove my 955 CTT in and it was bang on the published 17 mpg whereas the CD is about 20% down on the published figures?
I expect to have reduced MPG when driving hard but I don't all of the time, its a very mixed drive. I've put premium diesel in the tank today and saw a change straight away, better pull, quieter and a small improvement in MPG after around 40 miles of the same driving style.
Id appreciate some feedback from those with a CD if possible please?
Thanks
Carl

#1 - Porsche always understates 0-60, but it's probably still above 7 seconds. It's all the low end torque that makes it feel much faster than it really is.
#2 - I don't know about the 955, but the PCM/MFD is very optimistic when compared to a pump calculation in the 958. If you are talking about the pump calculation, then it all depends on your driving style and where you drive. The CD likes to cruise and I've seen as high as 36mpg (US) on the PCM/MFD (which should be about 34 actual based on the difference I've tracked) when I can let it cruise on the highway around 70mph. My daily commute path can net me anything from 26 to 31 depending on the day (my mood, traffic, etc..) and I've drug it down to 18mpg on <5 mile trips. On average I do much better than the stated city and combined ratings, but the only time I get at or better than the highway rating is on long road trips where I burn through a full tank with only a hand full of rest stops.
