OMG; I dipped my Cayenne but I don't like the color. what you guys think?

Hi,

I converted my Cayenne S to GTS (Headlight and bumper changed by my self, I also changed wiring so when fog is on, DRL of headlight also 'ON'... changed AMP for better subs and so on...)

I'll post about those converting sooner...

but I'm also wondering... what you guys think about this red Pearl?

I really need some opinion!

"you guys like this red? or hate?" =)

Pics shows more red...but real color is more Orange side...

=======================[UPDATED /w New wraps]==============================

My wife was out of country and when she shows previous orange/red of dip pics, she said "Revoke it";;;

So, I re-wrap with oracal 970ra, red metallic ($600 for material + Free labor lol) at this time.

I loves it!

Since you asked......: I am for a "no go". I read that it's red but actually even in the first pic it also looks like a red finish weathered for years to orange.

Perhaps I would be an exception. Let's wait for others to chime in.

Thankx for your opinion!
Pics may not show exact color... I'll shoot video and will post soon! lol

Yes please. Take better pics for a more accurate opinions from everyone.

As-is, your car looks exactly (and I mean exactly) like a red 280ZX that I bought decades ago with oxidized/weathered paint finish.

Color is subject to lighting, camera, and screen quality so it's hard for us to really judge. The important part is if you like it and unfortunately it sounds like you don't :(

In the first pic the front half doesn't look bad (though a lighter shade than I prefer), but around the rear door there is a pearlescent effect that I am not a fan of. It looks like that could be the light and/or camera though.

Good luck with figuring it out.

thats awful for that SUV, sorry

i like it, its different and not in a nasty way.
and its referable if you get sick of it a year from now

Is that Plasti-Dip? How is the quality of the paint? Is it durable? I think the color is not bad. Kind of a Matte Finish.

mmdht2 Jun 8, 2015 09:19 AM

why ask other people's opinion when clearly you don't like it? if 51% of the responders here say they like it and 49% say no, are you going to keep it or vise versa?

this is something you have to live with everyday (till the dip start to peel). if you can live with it, then keep it. if you can't, peel it off.

p.s. I have found pressure washers and rubbing alcohol work well for stripping plasti dip.

p.p.s. I like it:D

Hi!

Thank you for all your opinions! lol

I posted this article right after I dipped my car.

This is 3 coats base black dip (plastic dip) + 5 coats killa red (halo efx) + 2 coats Sakhir red /w dyc top coat + and 2 coat dyc top coat....
right after I dipped it, the color was horrible.. I expected like this link https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hp...24260159_n.jpg
I also spent over $800 for the only material......

My car also had whole PPF wrapping and those dipped was on that PPF.
...... dipped result was horrible, I spent quite a money for it;; so I was kind of mad...

that's why I asked you guys (I really wanna just remove it at that time..but I also didn't want get rid of $800 in a sec...);;

Current MY decision is keeping this color during this summer then change to other colors on Fall or Winter =)

Here is the video of color... sorry for noise on video; but you can see more exact color.
on daytime, color is definitely red.. and at nighttime, color changes to like copper+red+orange... =)

I finished several my DIY project (Bumper conversion, Dipped car, DRL is 'ON' when foglights are 'ON', add SUBs, trailer hitch...), so I'll post some pics for it ASAP. =)

Again, thankx for your great opinions, and sorry for broken English lol

cuemaster Jun 8, 2015 03:02 PM

not feeling it.

MadWhip Jun 8, 2015 03:21 PM

to me ? its not bad. something different, why would you go with something and paid for it, and than hate it :) you can always use some photoshop skill people to do it for you, before car/part./wheels - if thats plasti-dip it will also protect your paint. I'm thinking to go flat black on my car...not now.soon.

kechang Jun 8, 2015 03:26 PM

i see pink, chrome, orange and all kind of nasty colors Cayenne here in SoCal so this is nothing new, but I wouldn't do it to my car

I'm sure all of those people did it for some reason.. to each his own

monacojoe Jun 10, 2015 07:36 AM

meh

are you sure its red? that looks exactly like Sakhir orange that bmw put on a few //m cars awhile back (but looks like it was sandblasted in the desert).

not a fan b/c black and orange matte make it look like a hween pumpkin. maybe save it until oct 31st and then go with cherry red and green wheels for xmas

smartbot Jun 10, 2015 09:54 PM

It's not bad. I especially like the wheels!
