Cold shift from reverse to first

Does anyone recognize or experience the following symptom? Typically, on my first drive of the day I have an odd issue with a 1-2 second lag when I back out of my driveway. When I shift to D, 1st engages fine with not audible sounds, etc. But when I hit the gas, the vehicle doesn't accelerate immediately...it shows no ill effects between other gears and usually doesn't do it again unless it sits for a while. Thanks!

On most automatic transmissions this would be a sign that the fluid level is low. Has the transmission been serviced lately? Any sign of leaks?

That and does it sit parked on an incline?

It helps greatly if you include the year and model as not all have the same engines, transmissions or other features.

I have a 2011 958. Mine does similar, sometimes a 1-2 second delay from the time I put it in drive till the time it actually engages.

My '06 Jeep would do this and it was usually attributable to low fluid or an issue with a transmission filter. Their initial design had issues with how the fluid drained out of the torque converter. There was a TSB for it.

I've no idea if something similar is an issue with the Cayenne, but without a year and model it's even harder to guess.
