I suggested spacers just so the smaller, more narrow wheels aren't so tucked in under the wheel wells. Just more aesthetically pleasing, but certainly not necessary.

Honestly the inch width is not at all noticeable from the fender well. If I'm not mistaken Porsche changes the offset for the rims to put the face of the tire in the same position. Using a spacer with rims that already do that would seem unnecessary.
Semi-gloss black 20" rims on my 2016 GTS with Pirelli winter/snow tires. This setup works well and was relatively inexpensive.
I have these same rims on our 2014 CTTS, and really like them. I believe they are 20x10 with an offset of 50, but check their website to confirm. I am also running these with Blizzaks as I have been using these for the last 20 years on various vehicles and just feel like they are the best winter snow tires going.
Got the winter wheels.
Found a good local deal for 20" 9.5 wide rims with Scorpion Ice+snow tires - i know it's a wider than ideal setup - but it's Porsche approved config and price was good. Will post pics soon.
I have 21" replica Turbo II wheels with Continental snows. Been great, but we also haven't had a ton of snow in the two winters I've had the GTS. Never would have went 21" snows, but they were on the stock wheels when I bought it!
