LOL. I was getting threads mixed up. Wow, no dipstick at all just a sensor. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Yep, so when the sensor fails, or starts to read wrong what do you do? You have to take the vehicle to the shop, where they drain and measure the oil to see how much you really have in there.

Then test and replace the sensor.

Hmm. Dipsticks never read wrong.... Dipsticks never break....

I found that oil consumption is also related to the oil you use. My 2006CTT would use a quart every 600-1000 miles on the factory recommended Mobil 1 0-40w. After a bit of research I recently switched to Shell Rotella T6 5-40 and 2500 miles later I'm barely down on the dipstick since the change. I've read others had a similar experience.

Just had my oil changed at Suncoast after 2600 miles. Always think a good idea. Especially since I just drove it hard down to Florida for first real trip in new Turbo S
Now oil guage reads oil level info not available.
Guess I have to drive more than the 5 miles from dealer to reset. Screwy

FWIW, My 2011 CTT needs a quart every 5-6 months, just about once in between oil changes. I just stop by the dealer and they top it off complimentary. It won't show a reading immediately, it says something like "must drive a short distance to get accurate reading" and usually a day or so later it gives me a reading. So probably completely normal.

yes it is for diesels, but i run that oil in everything from a car to my CTT to my race bikes.

I've noticed very little consumption after 4k miles with this oil compared to the Mobil-1
