Hello, I was wondering if anyone can chime in and advise based on the information below. This is my first Porsche, its used, 65K miles, so far no complaints. It's cut out in traffic on me a couple of times and also has a weird knocking comming from the engine when it gets hot around 800 RPM. I read that its a normal sound fro the engine, lets hope.

I did an oil change this past weekend and noticed a few things that I hope someone can help me figure out:

1. Installed a magnetic drain plug about 1000 miles ago, when I took it out, it had a thin metal film, looked like lithium grease, is this normal? Engine will shed ultrafine particles?

2. When I got under the car, to my amazement the bolts on the rear part of the front driveshaft were loose, I left them alone as I do not know if I need to just tighten them or replace the driveshaft, here is why, there is a lot of bearing grease everywhere underneath, as it looks like the driveshaft was loose and it spun a lot of grease from the inside of it, what to do? Repack the grease? Replace driveshaft?

3. I got a weird leak on the drivers side and I cannot pinpoint it, it does not leak onto the ground but weeps all over the hoses and plastic. Any idea where this can be comming from? Power steering?

4. Also, as I was replacing the air filters, I noticed a bunch of gunk inside the air inlet, right by the MAF, right? Where is it comming from? I noticed one tab on the air box was broken, maybe it let some crap in at some time? This gunk is dry. Should I clean the MAF wire mesh with one of those MAF cleaners?

5. I assume this is the turbo there somewhere on the bottom, but why does it have all that burned exhaust residue on it? Do I have some kind of a leak?

6. Is the boost gauge supposed to be right dead on the 0 or is it just slightly off? Mine is just a little off or touching the zero bar, is that normal?

Thanks for any responses.

Phil.

p.s. I took this car for its first oil change after purchasing it and was told they did a comprehensive inspection on the vehicle, this was at the dealer - The Collection Miami FL. They did not note any issues, told me no leaks and everything is good, this was 2k miles ago.

The metal particles on the magnetic oil drain plug is to be expected and fine. So is the oil in the air intake pipe due to the PCV valve. Either have the driveshaft bearing grease repacked and reinstall DS with new screws or replace it as one unit.
