Did the M4 driver know you were racing him? Way back when i owned my E46 M3, a 957 Turbo S decided i wanted to race him without me knowing and got the jump, but i caught him in third or fourth pretty easily. And that was only a E46 M3. The new M4's are beasts in straight line runs.

He was driving pretty aggressively up to the traffic light, so I knew he would respond. As you described, I did get the jump on him off the line, I was surprised it took him that long to catch up. The 0-60mph on that M4 is quoted at 4.1s. That M4 convertible must have been a nice spot to experience the sound of my exhaust though !

It usually takes me a few seconds to decide whether or not I even want to race if someone were to "initiate the jump"....

No offense, but pretty sure the M4 would smoke you.

x2 did he even notice you with a car in between the two of you?

The much heavier hardtop convertible probably traps around 113-115mph vs. the coupe.

My friend always would tell me "Oh I raced this and that yesterday" I don't think the other people ever knew that he was racing them though...
