I cut off the forward part of the canister, near the flange and pulled the entire element pack out. As the photos depict - the precious metals matrix is housed inside a sleeve, tack-welded to the inner canister:

interesting, did you do that at the same time as the new Sebring exhaust, in other words, I am curious what it sounds like with stock exhaust and gutted secondaries
They were done separately. The gutted cats alone with stock muffler are raw, raspy and rough-sounding. The upside is the turbo spool is clearly heard, at WOT. The addition of the Sebrings added a contained, deep bass growl to the package.
That is nicely done. I have a 16 CTT and just added OEM PSE, I am thinking of doing the resonated secondary bypass. Your mod got my attention. By the way, your transfer case looks new, did you have to replace it? I just replaced mine at 22K miles. I have read many people have had to replace them.

Well-maintained, bone stock TC. No need to spend more, for resonated secondary bypass... just have all the resonation done at the mufflers. In actuality - the Sebring T304 cans only "look" like shiny mufflers. They are in effect, resonated "straight pipes"... which is why they sound so clean and tight.
