I am wondering if I buy the 5.2007 update disc, will that will upgrade the actual look of the map in terms of the color schemes, line resolution and clarity of the roads and symbols etc???

i REALLY want a new colour scheme and and the map to look more advanced like the newer PCM3.

does anyone know if it does this (to at least 2007 fashion standards) or strictly updates just the road data?


I can find the disc on ebay for $90 or so. curious if it is worth it. in the DC area, there seem to be a lot of changes since the early 2006 maps.

It just updates the road data. There is no new look... even if you update the firmware (which you may need to do to use a newer disk..)

PS (I'll yell back) - YES THERE ARE NEWER NAVIGATION DISKS. AVAILABLE THROUGH YOUR FRIENDLY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. OR VIA WEB ORDER FROM SUNSET PORSCHE (ABOUT $300 - BUT IT INCLUDES THE FIRMWARE UPDATE DISKS.) I THINK THE LATEST DISK OUT IS 2009, BUT THERE MIGHT BE A NEWER ONE.

 

How can you tell what version you have. I assume the P Dealer updated my car when I bought it in 2010 with whatever the latest version is but I do not know

BLKPPR,

there is a combination of buttons on the PCM you hold down to see what the firmware is.

you can always pop the cover off of the DVD drive access underneath the front passenger seat, eject the disc, and it will say on the label.
