actual payload capacity of your Cayenne

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a used Cayenne S as a tow vehicle for my Airstream. I do not worry about the towing capacity but I'm concerned about payload. The Porsche litterature says the payload capacity of the Cayenne S is 1700lbs but I have not yet find one with an actual capacity above 1200lbs. It seems like the options are relly heavy!

I need at least 1400lbs.

So before looking at each and every Cayenne for sale in a 200 miles radius, I though I should ask here to get some inputs.

So if some of you want to have a look, the paylaod capacity is written just above the tires suggested pressure on the driver's door sticker.

Thanks

Here is a link to the 958 payload capacity across the entire current Cayenne lineup:

http://press.porsche.com/vehicles/20...pecs_w_GTS.pdf

It goes from 1560 - 1700 lbs, so you should be good there. I am pretty sure the 957 payload specs will be similar. However, I think you are going to have an issue with the tongue weight on the hitch since it is rated for around 600 lbs. (660 lbs, I believe).

Can you not redistribute the weight?

Thanks for the link but this is the maximum rating without any options in the car. Since everybody orders options, the rating decrease.

For the tongue weight, this is not an issue with a weight distribution hitch.

If Porsche released this information, why would you believe that it would differ based on options? Due to the assumed additional weight? If that was the case, then towing capacity and tire pressure would not be accurate as well- which would defeat the purpose of releasing the information. Note, there are no special notes or asterisks next to those numbers.

As such, I think it is safe to assume that the stated payload capacities are actually conservative or based on a fully loaded vehicle.
