New vehicle protocols
New vehicle protocols
Our new Cayenne has arrived at the dealership and we have a choice to pickup either next week, or about 5 weeks later. We are trying to decide and can use your help.
The reason for the later pickup date is because we would still have the other car before lease return in about 4 weeks, and we would be leaving on a week-long vacation after. Picking up 5 weeks later was our original plan so that we would get the vehicle after we return from vacation. Obviously, now that the vehicle is here, we are tempted to get it as soon as possible.
My question is: is it bad for the engine (or vehicle in general) if we pickup early (next week) but may not be driving it on a daily basis for 4 weeks (coz we still have the other vehicle) followed by a week of parking (during our vacation)?
Any input welcomed.

Hello altsian,
I don't think having the vehicle sit idle for 4-5 weeks will negatively affect it. If you don't take delivery for 5 weeks, it will be sitting at the dealer for that time. Also, dealers take delivery of their inventory and sometimes do not sell all the vehicles within 5 weeks anyway so they sit on the lot for months sometimes. Just my 2 cents. Congratulations on your new Cayenne.
