Recall question

Hey newbie here. Taking delivery of my (new to me) 08 ctt on Tuesday. Car fax shows that the vehicle has a "#WB09 VOLUNTARY SERVICE ACTION - FUEL
HIGH-PRESSURE PUMP, CAYEN" which is listed as an open recall on it.the voluntary recall was issued on 4-5-2011. Ppi inspection came back clean and service records are great. However the open recall on the car fax is actually devaluing the vehicle. My question is: what is the process of completing such a recall? Is there a time limit on these things since it was over 3 years ago?

I would guess that a "voluntary service recall" does not have to be completed unless the vehicle show symptoms. If it were a voluntary safety recall it would be required. Of course I could be wrong too. Either way give a Porsche dealer a call and ask, they should be able to tell you.

I got you. I was more wondering if anyone knew if there was a time limitation on something like this. The inspection cleared the fuel pumps and such and I assumed that the previous owner would have had it addressed if the pump had issue since there was a recall. I guess I was thinking of getting it done during my first service just to get it cleared from the car fax. Not really a big deal in my opinion but wondered if it was still covered or not. Thanks for the response though

If it's a voluntary recall it certainly won't lower the vehicle's value. No recall should. Simply have your dealership do the recall (if it needs it) once you purchase it. Recalls have to be completed. You said the service records are great - if so - all recalls needed should have been done.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised that there was a recall on the car fax that hadn't been addressed given that most of the service records completed were shown on the same car fax. It may of course be a simple case that car fax just wasn't notified that the recall had been addressed or something of that nature. It's the only thing I see that would cause car fax to list the vehicle as being worth $60 less than book value on their report as it has only had two owners, no accidents, and service records. It's not really a big deal just knowing how nearly everyone uses car fax, I didn't want any issues to arise when/if I sell the vehicle in the future.... I'll speak with porsche next week and see if I can get info about it and try to inform car fax if it has already been addressed. Thanks for the help guys. Excited about the new pig and ready to start tinkering with my new girl next week!

Just call Porsche NA "1-800-Porsche" and tell them you have an open recall for the WB campaign. They will ask you your VIN to confirm that it is outstanding and should setup an appointment to get it addressed. I doubt it expires.
