Interesting issue I've been having and looking for advice on. The past few days my 'check engine oil' warning message has been coming on sometimes. Yet when I check the oil on the dipstick, it's always right in the middle or 3/4 up if I let it sit overnight.

Where it gets strange is that I noticed that the message stayed if I turned truck off and back on but always goes away if I pull the dipstick to check the oil. I tested it today running around to several meetings that required me to shut truck off. Message came on again this morning and kept coming back each time I cranked truck up (5-6 times throughout the day). Then I pulled into gas station this afternoon and shut it off. Pulled dipstick to check oil, level was good per dipstick, as soon as I cranked back up the message was gone again.

So... What would cause the check oil message to come on when oil level is neither low nor high yet make message disappear by simply pulling the dipstick out?

 

Well it came back on today and I left the truck running and simply popped the hood then shut it and the message disappeared. So it was simply opening the hood that was clearing the message.

Seems that I need a new oil level sensor. Anybody know a part number for this for an 08 ctt?

 

I had the same thing happen to me in my 08tt. I finally bought a sensor and as soon as it was delivered the light went off. Been off for 6 months or so.
