Question about P21S Wheel Cleaning Gel (moe or Phil)
OK, I have some 19" OZ's on my car. There are in good shape, no curb rash or anything, but here is my problem. They have some brake dust that will not come off no matter how hard I try. I have some P21S wheel cleaner gel.
1) How long should I let the gel sit on the wheels? 2) Should I do it in the morning when the car is in my garage and the wheels are cold? 3) Should I use a brush before or after letting the gel sit. 4) Should i try that mothers powerball use a Menzerna Polish? Just give me the best tips for very very stubborn brake dust, PLEASE. |
If the brake dust is not coming off it is likely that it has etched the clear. Wheels don't generally clean up 100% in one step. It is generally a process of 3-5 steps. Each step taking off a bit of the grime that remains from the previous step.
Pull the rims off the car. This is so you can get at those area's easier. Soak in p21s wheel gel. about 15 min. Agitate with brush, or wheel pad. Spritz again. Let soak 15 min. Clean with wheel pad. or use a PC with 4 inch pads. Green lc will help. Rinse off, This is key fully flush rinse the wheels. Clay the rims using a mild-aggressive clay. Wipe the rims with adhesive remover. This helps take care of those tar and goo spot. Using the PC again with 4" white LC pad polish out with your favorite polish. Seal with your favorite sealant. |
Phil's Wheel Tutorial
[quote]The wheel write up. Okay everyone here is a how to detail your wheels. I just got 4 new tires for my 20 inch BBS RS-GT's (Bridgestone RE050A's 255 30 20's) Bought the tires from KMD Tuning (Mountainside, NJ) and got them mounted and balanced there earlier today. Props to Danny (the owner over there) apparently these were reversed lips and they were a royal pain! Here are the products used: 3M adhesive remover Plastic razor blade (to remove the adhesive from the weights) 3 buckets: one filled with soap and the other to rinse the wheels (it's about 25 degrees out tonight) and one to sit on [:D] P21S Wheel Cleaner Gel Formula http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...nalcleaner.gif Boars Hair Brush http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...eelbrushSM.jpg Sponges http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...SpongesSM6.jpg P21S Polishing Soap http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ishingsoap.jpg Adam's Metal Polish 2 http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...alPolish21.jpg Menzerna FMJ http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f149/pyiu/FMJ32oz.jpg Old Microfiber Towels (for buffing and drying the wheels) http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0-16-6-mid.gif Microfiber applicator pad http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...MFapps2lg1.jpg Procedure: 1. Here is what I did first sprayed them all down with P21S Wheel Cleaner Gel formula. I let them all soak in it while I was working on the first wheel. 2. Got the soap bucket and the boar's hair brush started the brush the dirt and grime off the wheel. 3. After that was done I used the 3m adhesive remover to get rid of the bug/tar/leftover brake dust/grime and adhesive from the weights. 4. Rinsed off the wheels with a sponge. 5. Dried them good. 6. Used the P21S Polishing Soap on the clean wheel to polish them up lips, inner wheel, face of the wheel. 7. Rinsed them down again with a sponge. 8. Dried the wheel good. 9. Polished the lips with Adam's Metal Polish 2 10. Used the Menzerna FMJ to seal up the inner wheels, face of the wheel, and lips. 11. Repeat on the rest of the wheels. Before: |

I use to wax the wheels to avoid brake dust. Will the P21 remove all the wax?
|
p21s will remove some if not all of the wax. Probably your best bet will be to clean the wheels more frequently with car wash soap and water. Then continue on putting a layer of wax or sealant on the wheels every wash or every other wash.

Thanks Phil!!!

sure thing let me know when you need more products. I'm assuming you got the last package already :)
