In touch-less car washes, who's doing all the agitation required to remove all the dirt and grime? The answer is harsh chemicals. Ever notice what those water spot looking things are on the black rubber moldings after your car is dried from a car wash? It's the harsh chemicals used to clean your finish. So to answer your question, soap used in both car washes that use brushes or are touch-less, is VERY aggressive and will prematurely wear down the wax you have on your finish. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

First, the strength of the wash solution is a key factor. The PH of the wash solution must be neutral. A wash solution that is to harsh or high in surfactants will prematurely "wash" the wax from the surface, and this applies to all waxes. All you need is Car Shampoo that is PH balanced.

I think I may have misunderstood what lager was saying. I assumed Car Wash meant the drive-thru washes at the gas station. If you meant actual soap YOU wash the car with, Tito hit the nail on the head.

Since most car washes are after profit, I would imagine the use the cheapest, harshest stuff they can find.

You will also get a safer wash when you keep your car cleaner. Washing a dirty car will not only scratch the surface, but also remove more wax. Try to wash as often as possible.
