To polish wood
Pledge is a furniture spray that is laden with cheap silicone. It's not meant for automotive application. Most automotive wood trims have a clearcoat on them which is treated like paint. It needs to be polished by hand and then waxed. If it's bare wood, it won't have a gloss to it, then you simply wax with a natural carnauba wax.
I agree with Moe, but at the same time I've heard of a lot of people using pledge only on interior wood grain to help cover up and hide these scratches with great results.
If you choose to go the hand polishing route as Moe suggested, with an abrasive polish just be careful not to get any on the surrounding parts that are black or plastic or rubber as it can stain them.

Take it out, have someone hold it up, and put a Makita with a 3" pad to it... I did it once and it worked great, but it takes a lot of patience and care not to hit it at a wrong angle and make it fly across the room.
Best bet is to do what Moe said and use a small applicator pad with a polish and go at it with that... I would still take it out so as not to stain anything, as mentioned above
