Wash - a good car wash like Adam's Car wash (lots of suds)
Einszett Perls (very gentle less suds, very slick)
Swissvax Car bath (gentle, not many suds , very slick)

Clay- Uber Clay Bar, Swissvax Paint Rubber, with a plenty of detail spray/clay lube - Adam's Detail Spray, Optimum Instant Detail Spray, Swissvax Quick Finish

Polish- if you are using a Flex or a PC I would probably go with either Menzerna 106fa or Menzerna PO85RD with a white pad (what is the condition of your car's finish)

If its not necessary to polish and assuming you will be using Zymol Glasur for your last step, after the claying go to HD Cleanse finish with Zymol Glasur.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Keep it simple...I call it Trinity: Clay, Polish, Wax. So no matter what product line you choose, as long as you follow Trinity, you're guaranteed a proper detail process.

Start by washing the car first and use a designated car wash, not dish soap. Contrary to some suggestions, using dish soap strips the paint of its natural oils. By claying and polishing, you're removing most, if not all, of the previous product ever applied on the paint.

Once you've washed, you need to decontaminate the finish. Decontaminating the finish by using a clay removes impurities such as tar, smog, oxidation, embedded brake dust, fall out, jet fuel residue from planes, etc. You won't feel the difference until you start polishing. I like Sonus Extra Fine or zymol lehm klay 3. The sonus is probably the finest grit clay on the market and good for cars that aren't driven too often and also works excellent on clear film. The zymol clay is the best of all worlds because it's gentle enough not to scratch the finish and powerful enough to remove contaminants in a timely manner.

Polishing further cleans the paint and begins to reintroduce the oils needed back into the paint; hence why your paint feels smooth after a polish. You can do this step by hand or with a polisher. By hand you'll achieve good results but it all depends on what you start with. If there are swirls, scratches, etc. hand polishing will make it look less visible, but it won't remove all the imperfection. For true paint preparation, a polisher is needed. The FLEX is probably the best choice right now for any DIY. It combines the safety of a Porter Cable DA polisher but with the near-correcting ability of a rotary. A tremendous innovation and great value. Polish of choice for me with a polisher is Menzerna and hand polishing is zymol HD-Cleanse

Finally, waxing is the final step that protects all the previous hard work and the paint. For a glossy and shinny look, use a synthetic and einszett Glanz would be my choice. There are a lot of great synthetics out there like Klasse, zaino, autoglym, etc. As for natural carnauba, zymol is the only choice for me, it also seems for you So if using Glasur, make sure you use HD-Cleanse before using Glasur.

Hope this helped.

Thanks to both Phil and Moe for sharing their wisdom. Nothing like learning from the best.

I am looking forward to a tech session with Moe and a detail on my newly modded 997TT.
