wax question.
^As he said, waxing once a week, or more, would hurt nothing but your wallet in the long run. Then again wax is cheap and lasts so long you probably wouldn't even notice it. So it will hurt your hands most haha.
Generally, waxing every 4-6 weeks, with any decent wax, will ensure coverage and will keep the paint protected. There are variables however, such as what soap is used when washing, how often the car is driven, what the conditions are (sun, rain, etc. will make the wax deteriorate faster). In san diego, I think you should put a coat of wax one week, another coat a week later, then simply wax every 4-6 weeks along with a wash.
As for claying, it depends on how often the car is driven, and where. If you don't drive through any areas where paint, tar, tree sap, etc. has a chance to cling onto the paint, you're probably fine claying the car once or twice a year (I'd recommend twice, along with a light polishing as maintenance)
Hope that helps
