polishing nicks in glass?

I got some pitting in my windshield of my 2007 boxster. I brought it to a glass place that said I had to just live with it because it could not be filled in as was too small and trying to polish it out would just cause distortions in the glass. Is their any detailing product that would allow me to polish it out without distortions in the glass? Thanks.

Glass is actually pretty soft and any pitting in it is actual glass particles that are no longer there. Polishing isn't going to add back glass. All polishing will do is clean up the glass surface in order to improve visibility. Sorry to be the barer of bad news.
