Allow myself to introduce... myself.
Allow myself to introduce... myself.
Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Jeff and I am going to be taking the Detailing forum in hand.
I would like this forum to be a place of open discussion where one can give advice, ask questions, show off their hard work, and learn new tips and techniques. I am completely in support of Moe's vision for the forum, and would like everything to move in that direction.

That being said, there need to be guidelines. There are only two, so this shouldn't be difficult.
These guidelines are stickied at the top of the forum, with the date they were posted. If I update the guidelines I will change the date, so check it occasionally.
In three days I will be removing all advertising threads that have been made by non-sponsors in the past two months and issuing points accordingly. If you're on that list and you want to become a sponsor, let me know before I delete your threads.
If you are a professional detailer but do not wish to be a sponsor, you are encouraged to offer advice, suggest products, discuss the merits and drawbacks of different products or techniques, and generally contribute to the forum. Just don't break rule 1. If your user name represents a company and you don't wish to be a sponsor, contact me and I'll work with you to get your user name changed.
If you are a sponsor and you don't have a board sponsor banner under your user name, let me know and I will get that corrected.
My view of this forum, or any forum, is that the members make the community. They can either make the community good or make it bad. I would appreciate your assistance in making this one good.

Guidelines
#1 - Only sponsors can advertise services and sell products!
Advertising consists of:
-A company name or reference to a company name as your user name
-A company name, link, or point of contact in your signature
-A company name, link, or point of contact in your profile
-Promoting your products or services
-Posting work you've done for clients
#2 - Be respectful to each other.
Self Explanatory. I haven't seen this to be a problem in the Detailing forum as it has been elsewhere, but it still needs to be said.
Consequences: If you break a rule, you will receive an infraction. Break it again and you will receive either a timeout or a ban, depending on which rule it was and the severity of the infraction.
What I expect in return:
-Feedback. If you see me doing something you don't understand or don't agree with, let me know. I may have missed something that you noticed. If you see a better way of running the forum, let me know that too. I have no problem refining or modifying the above guidelines if it's in the best interest of the forum. My PM box is always available.
-Report violations. I'm not online 24/7, so it's entirely possible that I will miss something. I won't know I missed it if no one tells me. You can PM me a link and explanation or you can use the report post button located on each post. Either way, the suspect post will be reviewed and dealt with.

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to apologize for the cleanup I promised taking longer than expected. I'm having connectivity issues at my location (not Delaware at the moment), and it's preventing me from accessing 6speed. I want to let everyone know that I will get this taken care of as soon as my connection is restored.
Again, sorry for the delay. Feel free to use the report post button to flag non-sponsors advertising their services, and another mod will get it.

Sounds great Jeff. I look forward to the evolution. Moe, Philip and others have given me some great advice as have other sponsors. I have learned so much from everyone here - and received a great local referral for a local detailer, VS installer, etc. It has been most helpful and has provided me a resource for great products for my car.
