Side Mirror Water Spots

I washed my Ferrari over the weekend and after the wash / dry i went to clean the windows and mirrors and noticed the outline of a few water spots that have somewhat set into the side mirrors

Its only the outline of the water spots - I have tried cleaning them several ways but to no avail...

Any advice?

Thanks

If it's just water spots, a simple polish should do the trick.

Try Menzerna Super Finish, 16oz, with a microfiber pad...that usually works for me.

Whatever you do, do not use an abrasive glass cleaner or you will be buying a new mirror glass. The glass on the mirror is much softer than your window glass. The only safe way is to remove them chemically; that means you have to reverse the process of how they got there. The spots are actually traces of minerals in the pores of the glass. They need to be dissolved back into a liquid state and then rinsed off. Feel free to call me and I will guide you through this. I had to devise a solution to this problem many years ago - so I learned through the school of hard knocks.

JoshVette is infamous around these parts
This maybe a stupid question but are the spots on the actual mirror itself or the painted part?

Some F cars have black plastic or CF mirrors also so it might help to know more specifics if it's the painted part or the reflective mirror part or the black plastic or CF?

If the spots are the painted part or CF I would do as Moe suggested.

+1...I thought he meant the mirror painted area...the actual mirror itself can be cleaned with a vinegar solution...what's your secret recipe Matt, if you don't mind sharing.

The spots on the mirror itself - They are only like silhouettes of water spots - And can only be seen from certain angles, but they definitely are there

Did the vinegar work? I have the same issue with the side mirror glass, but this is on a 22 yr old Benz. I have a liquid glass polish (Autoglym) that I may try as well. Any updates appreciated!

I went to the store and forgot to purchase vinegar... I'll give it a shot tomorrow - I have zaino window polish that i haven't tried either - But it makes a crazy mess, so if vinegar doesn't work, i'll have to wait till my next car wash to give the zaino product a chance

Vinegar works - Just dabbed a bit on a paper towel and wiped the entire mirror then cleaned the mirror with Invisible Glass cleaner - Dried up water spots were gone

White Distilled Vinegar - .89 cents at the supermarket
