1500 sc's
I'm curious as to what you guys think would be best for cutting 1500 sand scratches.
-Currently using 3m's Perfect it 3k I beleive (Forgot the full name) I would like to switch because it dusts way too much, and is a hassle to clean up. :( -Also, it tends to leave alot of micro-marring. Can anyone recommend me something that can cut the equivalent to the 3m? A pad to go along with the compound would also be great. I ran across this, and these scratches loook TERRIBLE, and if the Mpo85 can handle this, with those kind of results, I think it could handle the 1500? A nice option to cut through 1500 grit sanding marks is Meguiar's M105 using orange pads. It's a great polish that is versatile and can offer a lot of correction on almost any paint. You could follow up with M205 using white pads, then the PO85RD on black if desired. Here's a step-by-step tutorial on the M105 / M205 polishes by a top professional detailer.
PO85RD offers very little correction ability and wouldn't put a dent in any wet sanding marks. Hope this helps. |
I think you just sold me on that product.
Will be buying tomorrow most likely, along with the pad. Another quick question, after using my 3M at the shop, I follow up with 3M's ultrafina on their blue pad and have had great results even on black. I mean absolutely fantastic. Now, i'm assuming since the m105 appears to finish better then the 3M perfect it, I should have no problem going from the M105 to my Ultrafina right?? Thanks man! |
Do you have the Perfect it 3000 Extra duty rubbing compound? If so, you have most of what you need, but I personally prefer either Menzerna Power Gloss, or Matrix polish I. To rub out 1500 grit sanding scratches, I recommend compounding with a wool pad. Compounding will leave a lot of heavy swirling, you would then go to a orange pad with Menzerna SIP, or Matrix II, then finish with Menzerna Super Finish, or Matrix III. I would stay away from most of the Perfect It line if possible, I think the only quality one they sell is the Ultrafina.

How much is a bottle of Menzerna Power Gloss?
