Can any of the pros recommend how often clay should be used?

 

I clay anytime you polish and wax. It's an insurance policy that takes little time but yield great dividends.

 

A good way to know if you need to clay the car is to test the surface.

After you finish with a wash, while the car is wet or dry, put on a latex glove and run your hand over the paint surface. The latex glove with hell to accentuate any bonded contaminants. Run your hand over the surface and if it doesn't feel like silk, if you feel any small bumps over the surface then you wouldn't be wasting your time claying it.

 

That's great guys! I do normally claybar when I polish and wax, I just wasn't sure if there was such as thing as doing it too often.

 

Just make sure you're using a mild or medium grit clay and you'll be fine. Glad we could help
