I am currently working with other moderators and the community to try and improve the detailing forum on 6speed. This has been a valuable forum, teaching may members and enthusiasts the basic skills to care for their vehicles. Expert sponsors have helped us learn the tasks that seemed too difficult to tackle alone - coaching us to use the correct products, and correct techniques.

I am looking for feedback and comments about ways to improve the community here on the detailing section. If you have constructive comments or criticisms and don't wish to post openly, please PM me and give me an honest impression.

In the past few days, I have moved the show and shine section back to the main forum. I have created a vendors section to post great deals and sales. How do members feel about this? Please post or PM me.

Thanks.

D.Kinsey is infamous around these parts
I am an owner/operator or a Paint shop specializing in High end finishes on cars and Motorcycles and the one area I have always enjoyed(hated) is the polishing phase. That being said, this Forum really caught my interest. I would like to take this time to thank the Sponsors as well as everyone else for taking the time to take pictures, do the super detailed write-ups and post/answer questions etc...I know ya'll are busy and really appreciate this!!! As for changes..Its nice to have the "Deals" separated so that they are easier to find/keep up with,as I HAVE to try out these products (I have found some that I wonder how I've lived without!!!) That's it..Just wanted to say thanks and keep up the good work!

Good idea to have all the vendor announcements and such in their own category. My main interest are the show & shine threads: to see the nicer cars and to see what everyone is using to get their results.

Thanks

Thumbs up My 2 cents

I think we should keep things simple and focus on the objective here. As many of you know, I'm passionate about detailing and am on a quest to shed more light on the industry for both DIYers and Professionals. For this reason, I limit my exposure of education and advice to 6speed and rennlist.com. I want to make sure I can devote the proper attention and still run my business.

With that said, 6speed has always had a special place in my heart. It's where I got my start on forums, it's where I've made lots of friends, and it's where we get majority of our business. Our style of educating first, sales and marketing second has gained the respect and trust of many of you. You come to us for products and services because you deem us to be an expert in the industry and an expert on YOUR particular car. Being a high-end detailing company means having a small niche that caters to the exotics and luxury cars. How do I know what pad/polish combo will get the swirls out of your black 997 turbo? We did the same method and got the same results with the other 100+ 997 turbos we've detailed over the years.

So, I see 6speed as a community of members and vendors here for a common goal. Whether you're here to look at the cars everyone is detailing, learn about what soap or wheel cleaner to use on your HREs, or find out what polisher to use, 6speed has been a fantastic place to get advice from some of the best professionals this industry has to offer. You have some of the leading vendors here supplying a wide variety of products to choose from. And it's all FREE! It's free because paying vendors support the site and in return count on members to buy from them, not other vendors that aren't sponsors. So keep the business in the family There's so much information/misinformation out there. Count on this forum to be your beacon of truth as it relates to YOUR question and YOUR car. I'm not aware of any other forum that caters to its members like this with the pro-to-end user relationship.

I'd like to see more involvement from the members. I want to see you guys do before/after of your work. The pros can show the cars all day, but many of you cannot relate to the results because you think you cannot get them since you're a DIYer. I get this daily from you guys when you call and order products. The fact of the matter is, YOU TOO CAN DO IT! Use the same product, technique, and put some TLC, and you'll be in the ball park. Also, I can only speak for myself, but our detailing routine is always evolving and it's because we're always looking for a better way of doing things. By you posting up your techniques, you'll be inspiring everyone and others can learn. So, what can be done to get you guys more involved?

In short, here's what I suggest:

1. Vendor Classified Sub-Forum - all specials, promos, new-product introduction would appear here

2. Stickies of the how-to stuff can stay as is since it's working

3. General Area - discussions, DIY member writeups or pictures, vendor write ups geared towards showcasing a detail or technique can be posted.

This forum is about you, the member. The more quality and effective feedback we can get, the better experience you will have and better value to you. Looking forward to this evolution
