DIY Dual Wash Bucket /w Grit Guard

For any of those guys who are trying to save a buck, or get the stink-eye from the wife when you talk about picking up another toy for the car....... Here's a DIY dual wash bucket just like the pros use, for about a third of the cost of what I've seen for the Grit Guard version. Maybe not as pretty but gets the job done either way.

Supply list:
  • 4x 5 gallon buckets
  • Grit Guard insert
  • 4x Casters: two straight, two rotating
  • Rubber floor runner: 36"x36"
  • 12"x30" piece of plywood
  • Misc screws

Instructions:
  1. Cut plywood to 12"x30"
  2. Wrap plywood in rubber floor runner, secure to underside using staples
  3. Mount 4x casters with short wood screws
  4. Cut two buckets down to about 1.5" tall at the base
  5. Test fit regular buckets into cut buckets to confirm they aren't too tight
  6. If needed, create one or more slits down side of cut buckets to allow regular buckets to be removed easily
  7. Position cut buckets about 1" from edge on either side of base
  8. Secure cut buckets to base using screws

Hose down your new contraption to get rid of contaminants, add a Grit Guard insert, and you're good to go! Happy washing
