What to do between Car Washes to keep Black car looking clean!!
SubscribeI have a 2004 996TT Cab triple black. I have the car washed once a week and waxed once a month. It is so hard to keep a black car looking clean. It gets dusty so fast. What do you guys recommend to do, to keep the car looking clean in between car washes. Do you recommend spray detailer such as Adam's and wipe it down with a microfiber towel. Should I do this every day or every other day. Will this hurt the paint in any way.

I have a black 911 and had my car detailed by Moe (from this forum) and one thing I noticed was that it did not attract dust like you are talking about afterwards. I think it might have to do with the type of wax that is used on your car and how much static electricity it creates to attract the dust. For some reason the wax that Moe used (Zymol Vintage) along with me using the Zymol field glaze (Zymols version of the quick detailer) after a wash, the car hardly attracts dust. Zymol has a lot of carnuba wax as does their detailer spray. That might be why it doesn't attract the dust. I never dust my car since dusting will only scratch the paint and leave that fine swirly look that us black car owners hate. I simply leave the dust alone, wash once a week, use the field glaze after I dry the car and it looks great. No micro marring either (or at least it is kept to a minimum) Hope that helps and good luck.Originally Posted by ggarza007

I've learned that with black, best thing to keep it "clean" is NOTHING.
To explain, by clean I mean, swirlfree and paint in good condition.
I've owned a black BMW for the past 2 years, and it was a compromise... either QD car every day or 2 days to keep it clean and dust free, but polish it every 2-3 months to get rid of the light swirling, OR let the car get as dirty as it wants for a week or less, wash with proper technique, and polish 2 times a year only... compromise of course is your car looking clean every day vs. keeping the paint healthy and scratch free
It's up to you what you decide to do...

I use Speed shine from Griot's between washes, quick and does the trick on my black 997S
