Recommendations on renting a car in Germany to visit Nürburgring
Hi All,
I am planning a trip to Germany in April and I wanted to rent M3 or Pcar to cruise around on the autobahn and take a day to drive to the Nürburgring track.
Any recommendations on places to rent in Munich area?
What's the approxiate cost for renting a M3 or something similar?
If you had experience with this any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I went in October and since I was a Nurburgring virgin, I rented a Renault Clio Sport 200 from RSR (rsrnurburg.com). They've got lots of options, including M3s and Porsches but you're going to pay a premium as you'd expect.
One thing is that most of the rental companies just want you driving the cars on the track, not taking lots of time and putting loads of miles on them on the highway. They do warn you about this and it's in the fine print. They figure in a distance for the track length and getting to and from the track and that's about all you get. Anything over that is above and beyond the price of the rental.

Just a thought....but in the U.S. you can rent a Porsche and other exotic cars from Hertz just like any other rental car. Maybe check with the local Hertz office at the airport where you fly in...they might have something.
In Germany (and alot of other countries in the EU it seems), all the rental outfits have clauses that specifically exclude the 4 ring tracks. You'll need to look up insurance liabilities on the net (http://nurburgring.org.uk/ has an excellent site) to understand it better, but it's worth it to get a track prepped car from a local shop. They'll give you a fair deal.
You could rent an M3 from the airport and drive that to the track and then tool around in whatever trips your trigger when you get there...
