Ferrari Factory Question

So this might seem like a dumb question...but I was watching Ultimate Factories on Saturday and they were going through the Ferrari Factory. In the paint booth section they showed a 360 going down the line...but in front of the 360 was a Mas Quattroporte. My question is...are Maserati's built in the same factory as Ferrari's or maybe just painted there? In another area, where they were assembling the Ferrari Engine, there was a huge Maserati Cambiocorsa banner that was clearly visible in the background. So how close are Maserati and Ferrari?

I was wondering the same thing. I'm pretty sure Maserati's engines were originally developed by Ferrari but I wouldn't have expected them to go through the paint booth together since I don't think Ferrari and Maserati share any of the same colors. Historically, Maserati and Ferrari have always been pretty close but I thought Maser had their own factory by now for building their cars. Maybe NatGeo was just trying to pull a fast one on us by showing footage from two different factories.

I was thinking that could be it...since the show was really on the 599...and they were showing 360 Modena's going down the line...which, i am assuming, should not have been built during the 599 build. Again...I could be wrong.

They were actually 430's. 360 is long gone.

They probably were 430's...that doesn't explain why a Mas Quattroporte was on the line with them.

Maserati uses the same paint factory as the ferrari. The engine used in the quattroporte is a derivative of the 430 engine. They share basic parts, but the only the ferrari gets the higher-performance stuff since it revs higher (8400) ect. I think the quattroporte revs to like 7500 or something, I am sure someone here knows the answer. The two companies are becoming increasingly distant as Maserati is no longer part of Ferrari but now part of Fiat which owns Ferrari lol. Gotta love those italians.

Maserati has spent considerable $'s upgrading the factory in Modena where I now believe all the QP's are assembled.

I was there in September and they were setting up for a very big and televised event there on 9/28 to commemorate the factory enhancements and the opening of their grand showroom at the Modena facility which is just fabulous.

They let us in to see it. It was stunning.

I did see quite a few Gran Turismo's driven in and out of the Ferrari factory in Maranello covered in white shipping plastic, but I doubt they are assembled there.

I took the tour in Modena 2 summers ago, and there was one production line for 430s and another for 575 superamericas and 612s. The only maseratis I saw at the plant were in the parking lot, presumably the company cars of executives.
