Street racing is bad, mmmkay!
Street racing is bad, mmmkay!

Ok, first off, I don’t speak Polish, so I am hoping our contributor, Bart can help out with this one. Here’s the news video covering the incident. The limited details I have are that the car, a Ferrari 360 Modena, was traveling at 200km/h in a 50km/h zone in Warsaw, Poland.
The driver apparently lost control and hit a bridge support. Remarkably, the driver is alive… unfortunately, the passenger is not.
Stuff like this really irritates me. I guess the driver is going to live with some immense guilt…
Some more pictures of the scene after the jump, don’t worry nothing graphic.

Here’s another video showing the place of the accident a bit better. 2 years ago the same thing happened, a 21-year old crashed and died in his BMW, also killing the passenger with him.
The problem is the dip in the road as shown in the video. Street signs are warning about slowing down and the dip, but no one seems to follow them like the police officer mentioned it’s a big straight-away and people simply gun it and speed down it.
The driver, Maciej Zientarski (in his late 30s) was an automotive journalist, just like his father Włodzimierz Zientarski, who both appear in Polish automotive TV programs together and in the newspapers/magazines. The passenger in the Ferrari was Maciej’s friend, Jarosław Zabiega, also a journalist from Super Express.
Maciej as reports say was thrown from the car, being badly burned and injuring his spine, massive head injuries, and is unconscious. He is in critical condition, already underwent his first surgery. Jarosław unfortunately was unable to get out of the wreckage and was burned alive in the cabin.

just looking for clarification here.. were these guys racing someone else or just (again not saying it is right) doing 120mph+ on the street?
again.. absolutely agree and racing speeds should only be done in dedicated spaces..
