The term "muffle or muffler" relates to quieting noise except for you Brits whereupon it refers to a scarf!

However, the American version relates to getting rid of noise, and that's what a "muffler" does.

Straight pipes do no harm regardless of what the so called exhaust experts say that some backpressure is necessary.

That reasonig is about the same as what comes out the back of a horse!

Now in reality straight pipes are not only disturbing but the higher pitched resonances can damage the ears!

F1 drivers only drive what 60 laps? They are no fools!
