Ive been a hardcore manual type of guy but was thinking of going a new direction. A Ferrari would be the biggest transition, and then to a non-manual tranny would be the other one. Anyone make a similar transition?
I made similar transition a while ago. Went from a 993 C4 and a 993 Turbo to a F355, 550, and then a 360. Far prefer the Ferraris. Suggest you take a look at FLife as there are a number of owners their who have made similar changes.

FYI, the F1 transmission on the 360 is an automated manual. You can also find 360s with a traditional gated six speed.

This is true. Same gearbox and a slightly different clutch.

It's electronically and hydraulically controlled.

Stay with a 6 speed.

I done the same move -although the Ferrari is on another league and gives you a whole different feeling when driving. I still enjoy the 997S Cab a lot. I still have both cars and if I had to the choice of between the two I'd definately do the move, you won't regret it!

This is all very true and understand that the Ferrari is going to cost you considerably more $ for maintenance and service.

Both great cars. Ferrari is exciting; Porsche is more practical, and I hope to soon to pick up a 997 S cabrio for summer fun in addition to the 360.

Suggest you go to FLife and download the 360 Buyers Guide.

I went from 996TT - Gallardo SE - F430...and the F-car experience is truly on a different level.

Porsche to Ferrari seems like a natural progression to me........i guess the true test of what better suits YOU (not which is a better car) will come after some seat time in the Ferrari. Seems like many never go back - some do - and the very fortunate find a way to have their cake and eat it too!

Best of luck....i too own a 997S Aero and imagine that some point down the road i will also be looking into a Ferrari myself (fingers crossed) - tho i must say, this car is a PERFECT daily sports car - I find it hard to beleive that i could romp on a 360 the same way i romp on this car (litterally 100+ miles a day - not all highway!!!)

I had the 355f1, 360f1 and Porsche GT2 that I had at the same time, sound and looks Ferrari IMO, driving feel Ferrari at first, after a long period of time I like the nimbleness and handling of the GT2 better, but I am about performance and I like to race my cars a little bit and the GT2 will just run away and hide from those Ferrari's! So when it was all said and done I sold the Ferrari's and kept the GT2. But I did like the Ferrari and will probably buy a 430f1 in the near future so I would say go for it!

Thanks guys!

Yes they are Novitecs. It has the Tubi exhaust, springs, and Brembo big brake upgrade. I can't really think of anything else I'd like for it to have. The Tubi isn't real exciting like the 430, but other than that the car has been better than expected.

I wanted them for my 360 but since the Pirelli's were either unavailable or absolutely absurdly expensive ($1,100.00+ each) I moved away from them.

They do look great on your car.

I run Michelins on my 360. Much prefer them to the Pirelli. They seem to last about twice as long and are better in the wet.

I have the PS2's on my 360 and they are fantastic. I just put them on my 530i, and they are incredible. Fuel mileage jumped up 2.5 mpg to nearly 34!

I am next trying the Pilot Spirt Cup on my 360 to see how they behave.
